emotional funny sad tense medium-paced

2.75

The first five chapters drone  on and they're not even that funny about her students and how much she hates her life and how angsty and  depressing it is and her student loan bills and how she doesn't get enough students to have enough money. And we meet some computer repair guy and she gets embarrassed in front of him,how she's socially awkward but a nerd and basically it's just an hour of this depressing narrative where nothing happens and her roommate is  annoying.

The main character gets whiny and angsty every 2 chapter  reducing escapism , there is some mild comedy and her totally crossing boundaries risking her job by contacting a student outside lessons to date him. There's some silly drama and accident resulting in her getting money to fly over to see her student.

Some very uncomfortable conversations while she's on holiday and her heartbreak .The repeated negative ruminations and her self hatred made it off-putting to listen to and her whining her life wasn't perfect.

Multiple sexual references, but closed door. Catholic references .

The twist at the end was great ,amusing and unexpected.

Her friend trauma dumping on her was unpleasant.

Glad this was free on Plus catalogue, not worth a 2nd listen, glad didn't waste a credit.l did get quite a good giggle and most of the ending was satisfying.
