When I started this book I thought it would end a five star. It did not. This book dragged on and dragged on and then became unrealistic. She said this dude was her soulmate and love of her life but by the end of the book she was hardly speaking to him. It was just bonkers and felt like word vomit at the end.

The page count had me stuck – why would a romance need to be damn near 800 pages?? But damn if I didn't enjoy nearly every page. (There were 1 or 2 bits of dialogue that repeated.) Overall, I liked this way more than I thought I would.

It’s nonstop sex from the very first page, so if you’re here for that, you’re in the right place. The consent was dubious at times which threw me but whatever.

The story is actually kind of sweet to start out with; a sweet, wholesome man in a bar, helping out a hot lady from some jackass, making a jackass of himself, and they come to know each other in this really intense and elemental way. Then they go separate ways.
It takes an incredibly kinky turn when we realize that our main character not only has her one night, stand soulmate man, but also his best friend, and then about a third of the way through the book, she also picks up a giant Finnish man with no words for anyone but her.

The writing was okay, very simple and certainly not the star of the show but the characters felt distinct and the conflict was realistic. The saving grace from the annoying main characters (annoying as in pushy, lacking boundaries) it was that the communication was on a 10. These people talk about their crap, that’s for sure. There’s a lot of sexual repression and denial which everyone works through with a major moment of reconciliation. Although there were several occasions when the dialogue felt like it was trying too hard to make some great philosophical statement, and more often than not some of the dialogue and inner commentary felt like they should be coming from supernatural characters because then all of this, “you’re mine” talk wouldn’t have felt so cringe. I don’t know…different strokes for different folks I guess. It was all pretty dramatic and drawn out for too long but no great grievances.

This book is straight  p-🌽on page, and a lot of it, which is the point so, well done Emily Rath.
