The latest book in the Narwhal and Jelly series by Ben Clanton, Narwhal’s Otter Friend is a funny and clever book about Narwhal and Otter, two new friends who meet and decide to go on an adventure together. It sounds like an awesome idea, until Jelly finds out and gets jealous. Will the three friends be able to play together? Read Narwhal’s Otter Friend by Ben Clanton to find out!

This fourth book and this time we meet a new friend, hype over waffles, and there is a dash of jealousy.

I was delighted to find more of this series at Library #4, I hadn’t expected that because they are so tiny (and generally tiny libraries mean that English books are either not there are even harder to find). Now I could finally read the whole series, or well, up to newest.

In this hilarious and cute book we get a new friend for Narwhal and Jelly. Say hello to Otty who is otterly enthusiastic about… well… everything. XD I had great fun hearing all his fabulous tales of awesomeness. If they are true, we don’t know, but I wouldn’t mind imaging them possible. XD I loved Otty and I loved seeing Narwhal get 100% enthusiastic and of course, as expected, hyped about waffles. I loved seeing these two together and think of all the adventures.

There are also otterly fun facts about Otters, and in a jealous mood, also Jellyfish. I had fun reading both of these facts. Nothing new to learn, but I still love that they are added to the book.

I wasn’t a fan of Jelly in this one. I mean, I understand his POV as well, but just because you are best friends with someone doesn’t mean that person has to be with you 24/7 or be your only friend. People are allowed to expand and find other friends, and yes, that may mean that they won’t be around you for all day.

The in between comic that popped up with the egg? Not a fan.

In overall, I had tons of fun reading this one. Cute ending, cute new friend that I hope we will be seeing more of, and waffles!

We finished this at bedtime in one sitting. It’s pretty silly.

Eliana’s review: “this is a 5. It’s funny, the words are funny. The shell phone is like my other joke. I like when the mermaid comes. Do you think that’s Mercat?”

When Narwhal and Jelly meet adventurous Otter...Jelly feels very left out. After trying to find his own best friend, Narwhal and Otty return: they have been waiting for him to go on their next big adventure!

The fourth book in the Narwhal and Jelly series.

'Narwhal's Otter Friend' by Ben Clanton is the 4th book in the Narwhal and Jelly series, and it's just as good as the rest, meaning funny and adorable.

Narwhal and Jelly have a perfectly great friendship, until Narwhal meets Otter. Now Jelly isn't sure what to think. Narwhal seems to really hit it off with Otter and they are planning to have an adventure. Jealous Jellyfish makes a new, and rather unusual friend, but what will Narwhal think of Jelly's new friend?
Along with this, there are facts about otters.

I love this series. I love the idea of a fun graphic novel series for young readers, and this series has remained solid and funny for the 4 issues that are out. Ben Clanton's humor and drawings are pitch perfect.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Disclaimer: I received this book free from Netgalley in return for an unbiased review.

I know this isn’t what I usually review on my blog. But technically it could be considered fantasy right? There are mermaids and unicorns in it soooo…

I knew I had to pick this book when I saw it on Netgalley for a couple of reasons.

1. My daughter (10 years old) and her friends at school love this series.
2. My daughter’s favorite animal is a Sea Otter.

I was excited to show her this new book and she loved it. It features the adorable illustrations we come to expect from this series, and is as wonderfully joyous as earlier installments. It’s a lovely little book.

Narwhal meets a new sea otter friend who is an exceptional adventurer. This makes Jelly a little jealous. Jelly feels a little like a third wheel once Otter shows up, but there is room for all of them in the sea.

I also like that they include a few facts about Otters in the book. They are fascinating little animals. It’s easy to see why my daughter loves them so much.

If you’re looking for cute books to read to your kids, or a fun graphic book for older elementary aged kids, then this is a good series to pick up. Especially if you are partial to sea creatures.
