This is a book I really wanted to like and I wound up skipping over half of it and then read the final chapter.  It was entirely predictable and I don’t feel I missed anything at all.

It came highly recommended for being a good novel with a knitting theme.  THE SHOP ON BLOSSOM STREET by Debbie Macomber.  I was on hold at the library for the ebook for months so it’s obviously popular.

I prefer the novels I read to have zero religious indoctrination in them.  This book is definitely Christian and way too preachy.  There’s also no diversity, unless the amount of wealth a person has counts (answer: it doesn’t). I liked the concept of the story and the characters were well described.  I also enjoyed the project they were all learning to knit.  It was a baby blanket and the pattern is included in the book.

One was making her blanket to donate to the Linus Project, which gives new handmade blankets to children in need. That particular character said it didn’t matter if it didn’t turn out nice as nobody would know she made it.  Another character didn’t like the way her first attempt looked so she donated it to the Linus Project and started another one.

These blankets are going to kids that deserve beautiful things just as much as any kid does.  I support the Linus Project and I don’t care for how it’s treated in this book.  If you think a blanket is ugly or poor quality then FROG it and make it nicer, then donate it.

I’m rating this one only 2 stars and I feel like I’m being generous with that.  I didn’t hate it  but won’t recommend it either.
