I received The Rose of the West from Goodreads Giveaways. The story revolves around Kay and Deke, seventeen year olds with very little family. It is the story of how they came to meet in the Wild West and takes place during the Civil War. To be honest it took me quite some time to really get into the story. I found the first hundred pages to be fairly slow. The main characters meet in chapter thirteen and from that point on the story really picked up. By the end of the book I ended up enjoying the story. It was a quick and easy read.
