City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments Book 2)(Re-Read)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“If you really love something, you never try to keep it the way it is forever. You have to let it be free to change.”

Okay, as this is a series, I will not go into too much detail with this review. However, Cassandra Claire continued to captivate us with her magical fantasy world and overall plot development. Clary and her friends continued to uncover secrets and truths of the past and present, which included plans by Valentine, the main antagonist. The plot with Valentine and the group took center stage and was continually intriguing the reader and inciting us to keep going. I really enjoyed this aspect of the book!

However, I will say there is an aspect of the plot which carries over from the cliffhanger at the end of book 1, that leaves a little bit of a cringe/ick factor. I understand the author doing this for dramatic effect. However, I feel at times she took certain moments concerning this plot point too far. That is the only reason I gave this book 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars. I will go ahead and put this spolier.... that plot point is not resolved until book 3.

This is a YA novel, but I would recommend it for older teens and younger adults due to some of the content.

Cassandra Clare has done it again. I literally could NOT put this book down—I read it in like two days.

The tension between Jace and Clary in this book was entirely unhinged, and I loved every single freaking moment of it.

The blatant incestual tendencies cause me to give it a low rating

The book took ages to finish and get through but I loved how Malec was more prominant in the story and how Jace and Clary are coming to terms with everything. It ended on a great cliffhanger, cannot wait to read book 3.

Also the seelie court scene is just a bit odd and very cassandra clare.
