I would have giving this one a 2 1/2 star rating if possible. I liked the characters but would have liked a little more investigating the case and a little less self-analyses and self-doubt from the heroine.

Eh. It was thrilling-ish, bu the writing style was too frenetic.

This story was plotted well enough but the writing was weak. Some descriptions were repetitive as if the author was forcing the reader to get her imagery. Some of the words meant to heighten ten tension or drama made me laugh stead. The book was good enough not to abandon but not good enough to recommend

A psychological thriller with a real class. I should say the plot is run-of-the-mill - a psychotic killer on the prowl with ritualistic murders. What adds the real zing to the novel is the character of Martha Snow, the therapist. Hers is a tight rope walk, she is keen on saving her patient who has gone missing and at the same time she has to honor the doctor-patient confidentiality privilege. The narration deserves a mention too, first person narration alternates with third person narration. I look forward to reading other books in the series.

The advantage to participating in group reading discussions is that the choice of what book to read next is fairly easy to make. What I had not anticipated was being swept up in the book from the very first page and not wanting to put it down until I was finished. Had I not had to be up for work early this morning, I just might have made last night a night of reading! M.J. Rose introduces readers to a new mystery series: sex therapist Dr. Morgan Snow has clients that range from the very rich to prostitutes in prison. Dr. Snow is a recently divorced mother of a preteen, Dulcie, who has her own ideas of what direction she wants to go in life. Dr. Snow has heard and seen it all. When one of her favorite clients, a high-class call girl and madam goes missing, Dr. Snow starts her own investigation into the disappearance afraid it may be connected to a rash of serial killings of prostitutes in the city.

In a very well written and engrossing novel, M.J. Rose pulls out all the stops, using murder, suspense, romance, sex and psychological thrills to keep readers enthralled. Her characters are complex and real, with very real insecurities and vulnerabilities. I have a tendency to skim sex scenes in books I read but not with this one.

I bought this after reading a short story by Rose in 'Thriller - Stories to keep you up all night'. It was an enjoyable read, if a little predictable. The first few chapters were based on the narrator and her story, some of which I didn't feel was necessary to the book. Also the villian was easily guessed by about half way through the book. Overall though, it was well written and a good read.

I really enjoyed this book! I couldn't put it down. I loved the mystery and suspense and intrigue, and the blossoming relationship between sex therapist Dr. Morgan Snow and Detective Noah Jordain. I want to read more!!
