It was a difficult read to follow through in evenings. I loved the Elder Edda albeit it was difficult but I felt like I needed a break before reading the heroic Edda.

The Poetic Edda is filled with many interesting stories. There is only one problem, there is extant another book filled with the same stories. This book is presented in a format better suited to stories, prose. This book is most suited for scholars studying this tradition, and poets interested in learning new forms. Of course to learn the forms you also need to read the prose Edda. Snorri gives a confusing, not well exampled explanation of every known form. For the reader interested solely in the stories themselves the prose Edda is the way to go.

I love when old guys try to reunite two countries by writing pagan religion down as folk stories, failing at mentioning important context as well as the political agenda
