I'm not sure where I first encountered this, but it was pretty heavily featured on my *~insta feed*~ . Was in the mood for a thriller, so picked this up, consumed on my kindle. 

On its face, this looks like a perfect fit for me, but it was just not the one. I felt it borrowed big plot and even format-beats from hugely famous novels and movies that did it better, and the darker elements were too heavy-handed. I do not need 500 examples of why this bad character is bad, I got it. I had to push myself to finish this, and found myself wishing there WASN'T a twist, as I think exploring Charlotte's world after the abduction was so interesting a perspective. 

Overall, would not recommend, especially not to those familiar with this genre who would note the story similarities I did (seriously with the swimming!).

This was a very good comfort thriller for me. Just white people being selfish, with an interesting if clunky twist. Solid B+.
