Good. Enjoyed the story but it's not as good as her later ones as it's her first one as you can tell there is a good premise there but it just struggles to get out. Full of twists and turns.

I almost want to give it four stars. That is how enjoyable of a book it was for me.
The plot was very predictable and I knew where it was going from the title. However, it was hilarious journey of the expected plot. I was laughing at the ridiculousness of it at random times and when that happens (even if I know the book is bad ) then I know it was a worthwhile read for me.
If you enjoy laughs then this can be a fun book but don't expect anything else from it.

Oh, and men suck according to this book. XD

Dear 2013 Kim,

Why the fuck did you buy this book and waste your time reading this crap?

Sincerely baffled,
2016 Kim

P.S. I'm glad you got rid of it.

I was picking out books at the library based on the covers of course..my cover is prettier than the one pictured on here. This book overused foul language, had an insanely unlikely ending but I read through it quickly and shrugged at the end. Uncomfortable much?

I picked this book off the shelf in Penang because of the title. I had a Matthew in my life, (not in a romantic way, thank goodness), but he had enough arrogance and bad bringing up to be thoroughly annoying when he hit on my sister by insulting her.

Past that. Getting Rid of Matthew is interesting. Helen is a bit spineless— I'd like to think I would have kicked Matthew out from the very beginning. He lies about everything, trying to pit two women against each other that supposedly have never met. He actually succeeds until Helen befriends Sophie.

I was a bit miffed that Leo didn't figure it a bit more heavily. But then, he's not the subject of the book, his father is. Completely didn't see the Sonny thing coming.

Thinking over it, the book felt a bit all-over-the-place. Jumping into characters' heads with no warning. I liked the 'our Helen' bits. I hated Matthew. I was literally clenching my fists at the book.

Things like that always make me angry. Helen and Sophie and Hannah were all victims of this really pitiful old idiot and their own compassion and personal vulnerability. I feel sorry for Alexandra and his children.

Not sure how this got on my list to read. The library had a "romance" sticker on it but it's not. The thing I liked best about it was the tension with the main character trying to hide what she was doing and almost getting caught multiple times. It's a hard book to categorize. I didn't find it funny like some people reviewing it. It seems like most of the low reviews are from people who are completely offended by coarse language (seriously?) and people who picked up the book thinking it would be a light rom-com with likeable main characters. I enjoyed it enough where I'll try another from the author.

I almost stopped reading several times, wanting to shout at Helen to grow a pair and just dump Matthew already and come clean, but the book was clever and quippy enough I kept reading to the end. I ultimately liked the novel as a whole, though I think it would have been better with a shorter pre-honesty middle and longer post-honesty wrap-up

I love Jane Fallon's writing style. I love this book. The characters are fresh and not romanticized at all. In my opinion, it's incredibly realistic (and by a glimpse of the other reviews, I can see not everyone agrees on this).
Either way I loved it. And
