As far as arranged marriage romances go, this one was pretty messy, considering Ewan is a womanizer. Things were pretty dark in the first half of the book and kind of sad in the second. The weirdest part about the book was the heavily religious conversations sprinkled throughout. But it was an enjoyable read and I’m really excited for Eoin’s story!

I'm glad she stuck up for herself in the face of him being dumb. Walking into that marriage with the arrogant double standard Ewan wanted was unacceptable and I'm glad she took her future into her own hands. The side quest to the dungeons was unexpected an I'm glad Barclay kept the reader only seeing the tame side. This could have been much darker than it was. And Ewans quick to get over his early opinion which made the book feel much more wholesome than it could have been. It was a much more pleasant read despite how much adversity Allyson was constantly facing.
