In my mind, this is her worst book so far. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of important and serious topics discussed in this poetry collection. But the poetry itself is so typical of Rupi Kaur, meaning it’s fucking bad. Her approach is so obvious and uncreative, and it’s clear she hasn’t improved as a writer, not when you compare this to her past work.

Bello, ci sono alcune poesie dentro splendide, ma... Sinceramente a tratti l'ho trovato ripetitivo e molto simile ai due precedenti.
Niente di ché: né brutto, né sconvolgente.

Say about Rupi Kaur what you will, but you can be sure she’ll pour everything of herself into her words and doesn’t hold back. There’s so much emotion in this collection, pain, trauma, love, healing. And her poetry is pretty straightforward, you know what she’s saying. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn’t, but this collection was a hit. I absolutely loved Home Body! Of course there are some poems that I loved more than others (and some are just way too short in my opinion) but overall, I really enjoyed this and it might be my favorite of Rupi‘s books.

How does one review poetry? I mean I like poetry, Im not 100% sure I like Rupi Kaur's poetry, a lot of it reads like shower thoughts or an attempt to write a viral tweet? but the sections that read like traditional poetry I found very compelling and moving. I can't relate to a lot of the subject matter but I think Rupi Kaur does a really good job of putting the reader in her shoes, even in the sections where the writing didn't hit as hard for me.

I did tab a few poems though so I didn't completely dislike this book.

I honestly can't tell you why I was so bothered by this.

A construction of words
formulated to inform you
how to live a better life
in a better style, tends to
make me feel as though the
life I live now is not the one
that this author expects of me.

This read as like a personal transformation book, which I personally am not a fan of. The impromptu poem about how I felt about this was longer than a majority of the poems in the book. I prefer longer poems, it tends to suck me in more.

Ripi Kaur passes through you with a very thin blade, which you don't even feel at first, but as soon as you realize it cuts you like a sword. She is deep, pungent, penetrating, personal. Her poetry is a journey, within her and within ourselves, which leads us to know a part of us, which we already knew existed, but which her words bring to light. This third book is only the confirmation.

While I may have read Rupi Kaur’s ‘poetry’ around social media for a while now, it’s my first time reading an entire collection. I personally felt they were more of intimate thoughts penned down than actual poetry… but then again, is it possible to confine a free form of expression to certain expectations?

That aside, I’m a bit conflicted rating this poetry collection as although there were some ‘poems’ that deeply resonated with me, some others were a bit harder to digest as I wasn’t able to connect as much.
