Yvette Stapleton escaped her step brother not once but twice, she knows the next time she may not be as lucky. Fleeing overseas she immediately comes into contact with Ewan McTavish, the Viscount of Sethwick. Ethan remembers Yvette well, he has not forgotten the one dance they shared years ago. Yvette has haunted him and now that he has her in his grasp he finds himself torn between duty and following what feels right.

I am always a sucker for highlander stories. I liked that there was a deception element to this story. Ewan tries to be honest with Yvette, but you have to take caution when dealing with an innocent. Wonderful read.

I usually give a book 50 pages before I give up. I gave this one 80. I was so confused in the first three chapters of just who everyone was. So many people to keep track of so early in the story.

I thought it ridiculous that Yvette was such a pushover in regards to Mrs. Pettigrove and how she let her get away with being so pushy and rude to her and possibly even stole her belongings yet she still offered her a room?

Then she turns into mush and sits on Hero's lap and cries at breakfast when they hardly know each other, and after they had just been caught earlier near naked in his room. Ugh.

Then there were all the "Merciful God", "Sweet Jesus", "Lud", "Dear God", "Lord Above", "Lawks", "Lord", "Faith", "Good Lord", etc...And that was just in the first few chapters! I just couldn't take it anymore. Not a fan of this book.

I enjoyed the characters and the basis of the story line. However, the flow of the book was just off. Something about some of the interactions just didn't mesh together very well. To be honest, I had to double check and make sure this was a first in the series because the abundance of characters and their interactions made me feel like I was missing something.
