A little slow in the beginning, and a little predictable in terms of the plot setup, but this book leaves you with tons of questions and is really easy to fall into.
I love the MC and I’m dying to figure out who she’ll become.

I wasn't sure I would like this at first. I kept reading. It became intriguing by the end. Definitely reading book two.

3.5 for me.
A friend recommended this to me, and we're reading it with another friend in a mini book club! And I did enjoy it quite a bit. I recently read the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas, and this one is marketed towards fans of Maas. I'd say this is accurate because it's clear where the inspiration came from for this series.
I liked the characters, but I didn't love them. Haven is written to be a skilled fighter, and we definitely see parts of that. But for much of the book, we do see her struggling against the people she is traveling with. Which is fair, considering they're immortal and Haven is not. Archeron capitalizes on that a lot, and I think it's mainly an effort to remind Haven of that fact. That being said, he's a cocky bastard, and that's right up my alley, so I love him.
And then there's Stolas, a hot baddie who is also right up my alley.
This book is not a short book, but I guess I didn't fully realize how much this book was setting up the rest of the series. That sounds silly, but I met the characters, the plot, and thought thatwould be taken care of in this book. It felt a little...incomplete to me, but that's just one opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
I am really excited to read the next book, and learn more about the characters, the world, and plot.

I really want to like this book but i can't get into it properly right now. I'll probably go back to it in a few months and see if I can make it past those first 100 pages.

Great story
This was surprisingly good. I had a little trouble staying focused but it ended up being a great story overall

Interesting story and well developed characters. Looks like two possibilities for a love interest, and I’m interested in seeing who she will end up with if she picks any of them at all. Bell is a sweet sweet young man you was just dealt a shitty hand when it comes to parents. The Solis crew is a complex group of characters with stories to tell. Looking forward to the next book.

Definitely YA. The plot moved to quickly for the relationships to be believable between characters. I really enjoyed the world, but I'm not compelled to read the rest of the series.
