This was overall a cute, fun story, but with some darker elements. Wasn't expecting so much domestic abuse to be at the core of Fin's anxiety. I loved the setting of Aldermere and how it had so many customs with regard to how to interact with the magic. Reminded me of a fae story in that regard, but without the fae.
The supporting cast is great. I loved Eddie and wish Cedar had gotten a little more screen time. The external conflict could've been seeded in a little more throughout for my taste, but it was still a satisfying conclusion.
