Still totally baffled as to how these are so highly rated?? I think I might give up on this series though I also don't want to because I have volumes 4 and 5.

A really fun volume! The first chapter was a bit hit-or-miss for me, but everything else was very enjoyable! It's also fun to start seeing the Lumberjanes in different artists' art style (although I absolute love Brooke Allen's art) and Casey Nowak draws the most amazing hands and faces! Once again I really liked how it slowly unveiled bits of lore while balancing it very well with fun shenanigans and character explorations - the writing and art of this series is just spot on every time!

That portal jump and then working together was very entertaining!

I really appreciate the friendships (and more) and the variety of Lumberjanes that we can all personally identify with at least one.

There are good moments in this one: I enjoyed April's determination to receive a normal merit badge (the cake decorating challenge was particularly funny) and I ship Mal/Molly, so I was happy to see them have more time together. But overall, I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as the first two volumes. Part of that's the change in artwork: I didn't really care for the new style, and found the abrupt change-up very distracting. But also the story just somehow felt . . . off-balance to me. A Terrible Plan is still cute, but after the sheer awesomeness of Friendship to the Max, I couldn't help but feel a little bit disappointed.

I really loved this collection. The first story consists of the girls attempting to earn their "scary story telling" badge so it is a great mix of goofy and creepy stories. The second story set might be one of the most epic in awhile, with Mel and Mol on their own adventure and the girls back at the camp struggling to collect the most simplest of badge. Lots of heart and humor, exactly what I wanted to read on a warm summer day.

3.5 stars, rounded down. Not a lot happens in this one, which is in complete contrast to the first two. I feel like the author didn’t necessarily know which direction to take it in, which made it a bit of a slower read.

I’ll still continue the series though as I’m hoping the story will progress a little more in the next one.

There were some nice elements of character development in this though, and the romance I was rooting for had some key coverage in this as well.
