I'm not sure how I feel about the feeling of nonclosure in this book. On the one hand, it's nice that these books don't feel formulaic; on the other hand, I like mysteries because they generally provide a nice clear, clean plot at the end.

Awesome entry in this series. I'm actually kind of glad I read them out of order now, because after the greatness of this one, I think L would have made me even angrier. The mystery was excellent, the extra characters were great and interesting, Kinsey was in top form. Great!

Another page turner from the Kinsey Millhone series. Kinsey is razor sharp, fearless and impatient, but the thing I love most is when she goes off on a random rumination, for example imagining what spiders might say to each other about us, or a fantasy about what horrors might be lurking down a hole. There is a constant internal monologue which helps to set the scene and give her impression of people but they also go off on bizarre lights of fancy and are often really funny.
This one I re-read when I'd nearly got to the end because I didn't want to finish, it was that good.
It's only 4.5 because it's very much of a type, and also I found Kinsey's attitude a bit problematic at times, but having said that she is meant to be a flawed character which makes her more interesting. It's got everything I want from a whodunnit and more and I enjoyed it enormously.

Another interesting Millhone mystery, but I miss Henry and Rosie. I thought the killer was someone else. None of the extra characters in this book were as memorable as in some other books.

in which kinsey investigates the murder of lorna keppler, a high class prostitute. her friend danielle finally gives her a decent haircut. kinsey may or may not get involved with the mob.

Kinsey's getting a little meaner. She's making those snide comments left and right, and it sucks.
I thought the story was okay, though the ending was a little underwhelming.

There are so many things I like about this series. Kinsey is smart, scrappy, and doesn't take misogyny lying down. I like that she's a runner and the books are set in the town where I live. More than anything I've appreciated a break from all things technological, no social media, computers, all answering machines and faxes, and rotary phones.
BUT
I need to let this series go, at least for now. This last book had an interesting plot and some good characters, but the ending let me down and there are just too many good books out there to spend time reading ones I feel lukewarm about.
