I really wanted to like this book. I love the title and the cover. But that's about as far as it goes. I found it dry and not very engaging. Perhaps the swinging between daily, mundane anecdotes and comments on bible verses made it a tough read. It could have been smoother. Sometimes there are full paragraphs where she is pretty much quoting a verse word for word and it doesn't seem to fit what she was saying before at all. There seemed to be no structure particularly either and each chapter could very well have been the previous one. I felt it was a book that wasted pages.

Full of truth, but somewhat dry and redundant.

I really appreciate how the author can’t hardly write a paragraph without her words turning into scripture references. It is truly lovely. The book is written as an encouragement to Christian moms and takes the often bitter idea of “having your hands full” and spins it in a positive light: having your hands overflowing with blessings.

It's impossible to read this book and not encounter the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a mom it is easy to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and just plain forgotten. On days when you can't remember the last conversation you had with an adult and you're arguing with your toddler about not throwing his bowl of apple sauce on the floor, I find myself feeling out of touch with God. Reading Gloria's book (I also highly recommend her other book, Glimpses of Grace) renewed my mindset to remember the love my savior has for me and to gather my strength from him in the midst of the chaos.

Takeaway: We need the actual gospel more than a bunch of Bible-based tips.

Also good for Dads who are involved in the home and with their kids. Most of the lessons and points cross over pretty easily.
