This was really hard to get through. To be honest I am only reading this series to bond with a family member I haven't seen in years. Hopefully it gets better, but I struggled to care about the mystery, the characters and found it hard to place the time this is supposed to be in, but it's got Bogart era sexism without the charm.

  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I had to keep reminding myself this book was written in 1966. Like the casual use of the “r” word. And a receptionist being a “cute chick”. And the possibly lesbian side character being named “Butchy”. Sigh. But overlooking the icky-ness of the time period, overall a good book.

What an enjoyable "Who Dunnit". The characters are engaging, the dialogue is entertaining and I loved every minute of the storyline. I would love to continue this series.

The Cat Who books are absolutely delightful. A must for every cat owner that enjoys a light mystery. It's an adult read but without the sex and violence in most mysteries. You can't help but love the main characters.

In deze eerste detective maken we kennis met Jim Qwilleran en met de eigenzinnige Siamese kater Koko. Als zijn baas en kunstcriticus Mountclemmens wordt vermoord raakt Qwilleran betrokken bij het moordonderzoek.
