I received Night School in return for an honest review from the publisher. Ever since her brother disappeared things haven't been great for Allie. She’s been in a downward spiral kicked from schools to being arrested for breaking in but her parents have had enough. After her latest stunt her parents send her off to a new boarding school that does not support modern day technologies. So no cell phones, laptops with internet, and no T.V. Allie will be forced to embrace a classical lifestyle while at the school.

Cimmeria Academy isn't your typical school it has two sets of students those that attend school during the day and those at night. She is befriended by a group of nice girls and two guys each different but it’s the one who is popular that win. Carter warns her that he’s not a good guy but she stubbornly learns the truth only to be saved by Carter. After seeing Sylvain’s true nature does she learn that there is more going with her fellow students than she thought. Darkness is looming outside, strange night visitors, and Night School students patrolling the school grounds at night. As Allie attempts to find out the secrets that everyone is keeping, she will be tossed into an intense adventure that could risk her life. Suddenly Allie’s life is in danger she will have to accept help from the least expected places if she wants to finish the school term.

Allie is a smart stubborn girl, who when things got rough she deals with it in her own way even if they aren't always the best choice. For the most part I like Allie she does have a few moments when I want to smack her over the head but then she does the right thing so I’m happy. I like that as we progress though the story Allie grows as a character making her even more enjoyable. I wasn't sure about the guys but in the end I think she made the right choice. I think the characters in Night School are fascinating, creating an exciting world.

Night School is a captivating mystery that kept me on my toes from start to finish filled with unexpected twists and turns. I love the cover it is spooky looking I expected a paranormal theme with vampires but was pleasantly surprised to discover something entirely different. A unique concept that mixes mystery and romance to create an intriguing story that spurs the imagination. I really enjoyed Night School it’s one of those stories I had a hard time walking away from I had to know what was going to happen next. The writing is beautifully written it flows smoothly from start to finish; creating a story teens as well as adults will be lost in. I felt like I could really visualize the school as well as the characters I was so drawn into the story I almost felt I was there. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next chapter of Allie’s story.

I loved Night School!! I was hooked from the first page and was taken on a rollercoaster of a ride and honestly, I didn’t want it to end! I think since Harry Potter I have loved a good boarding school story and Night School does not disappoint. It is full of mystery, intrigue and it kept me reading until all hours of the night.

I rather like Allie, our main character, she has many issues since her brother disappeared and her way to deal with it is to act out in the wrong ways. Her parents have finally had enough after she is caught by the police and they are forced to send Allie to boarding school in the hope she will learn a thing or too. Now the only thing in the whole book that really bugs me is that Allie seems to accept this a little too easy. We are told how bad she has been acting and how she is against many things but she just seems to say ok to what her parents want this time. I don’t feel like she really put up a fight to being shipped off to boarding school.

Cimmeria Academy isn’t like any school you have ever come across, no one has heard of it, the rules are paramount with no mobile phones or computers allowed, the current students seem to be highly intelligent and mainly from wealthy families and if that wasn’t enough the secret Night School is never to be spoken of.
But of course rules are meant to be broken and after Allie and her friend are attacked questions need answering especially after other things start to happen in the school grounds leading to the death of a student.
This leads Allie on a journey of discovery not only about the academy, the strange goings on and Night School but she also learns a few things about herself and her family.

Now no YA novel would be complete without a romance would it and we are given just that in Night School. We have Sylvain who was more than creepy and got off a little to lightly after what he did to Allie, I lost all respect for him after the ball!! But I love Carter!!!!!! At first I didn’t feel much for him and there were times he annoyed me but he is a good guy and I’m really looking forward to reading more about him and Allie. There were several secondary characters who were well established and I look forward to seeing them again.

4 of 5 stars because Daugherty has written a story that is totally gripping and full of mystery.

Oh wow... main character was very funny to laugh at, I had mini dramatic reading sessions narrating the book to my friends. Many accents, good times :)

I already love the entire book series. The mix of the love story of Ellie and the secrets in the boarding school, where no one really knows about it.
I love the character of Carter, he seems so cool and casual, but I think there is something behind it. "He called after her, "Nice boots, Sheridan."
She didn't look back. "Stay cool, Carter West." She was halfway down the hall when she heard his reply. "Always." (p.451)
I'm so excited to see how everything plays out in the book.
