A wonderful, and dark, entry in the Redwall series. A look into the beginning of Martin's life and the heartbreak and darkness that formed him into the warrior we see in Mossflower.

This book was very average in the whole spectrum of Jacques's works.

The best Redwall book. Martin the Warrior has a strong cast of supporting characters, excellent plotting, and the perfect blend of comedy and tragedy. This book tells so much about how Martin ended up being who he was in Mossflower and the Legend of Luke, but the book really shines when it comes to the side characters and their interactions who rightfully steal the show. It also breaks away some from the average tropes that the series adheres to, especially regarding plotting.

This was so fun.
Haven't read these books for over 20 years and I have never done a full cast audio.
I had so much nostalgia as the story took place and loved the way the story was told.
The story itself is a bit more YA then I am a fan of, these days. But this was such a nice change up and I'll listen to a few more across the year as pallete cleansers

Another Redwall winner! Martin's backstory was fascinating, and really helped set the stage for the founding of Redwall Abbey.
As usual, the food and characters were stellar. Especially the villains - Jacques has such a knack for creating fearsome villains! I loved the struggle between Badrang and Clogg - it was both amusing and believable, these two blackguards were so well-formed and incorrigible!
The depth of animal tribes (and actor troops) was fascinating, and Noonvale really brought Martin's dream of Redwall to life - both why he wanted to create it and why he couldn't have stayed there.
My only minor complaint was that the map wasn't always clear with the descriptions, and I found myself incorrectly tracking the journey a few times - this has not happened in previous books.
I recommend this book to all fans of Redwall, fantasy, or just a regular ole GREAT story!
