A good book for a long day of travel, entertaining enough to distract me from the misery of two flights, a long layover, and a two-hour drive to get to my destination. Would I give it 4 stars if I had read it during an ordinary day? Probably not.

The narration switches between present-day Claire Cook, a political icon’s wife with a high security detail, and Eva, a women whose history we learn about after she and Claire switch tickets at JFK.

The author skillfully builds suspense around the mystery of Eva's survival, keeping readers engaged and eager to uncover the truth. However, the inconsistent behavior of Claire, the protagonist, proves frustrating as her desire to hide conflicts with her tendency to stay in one place for extended periods. Additionally, the portrayal of Eva as a helpless victim overlooks her agency and fails to explore the complexity of her choices. While the initial chapters draw readers in with intense anticipation, the climax falls short, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction. The chance encounter between Danielle and Eva feels contrived, straining believability.

3.25 stars ⭐️ this is tough one to review. It’s mostly good? Some very frustrating character development (or lack of) but the overarching story is good.

Wow. Okay, this was an amazing thriller novel. The pacing was perfect and kept me on edge (that's why I finished the book in like 2 days). The dual plotlines of Claire and Eva were done perfectly as well. You root for both of the characters the entire novel. The whole flow of the novel made it very easy to read.

The epilogue broke my heart, because even when you knew it was impossible and unlikely you still didn't want it to happen....I'm so sad about Eva because she really did deserve so much better. I hope she's having the time of her life wherever she is.

Refreshing story about two women that isn't driven by romance or outright tragedy. Very pleased with the ending, I was afraid it would be too ambitious but it surprised me
