This is my first time reading anything written by Steve Berry- I won it in the goodreads giveaway. The beginning of the book was really fast paced & interesting but after that I found that the book was dragging all the way until part four. Part four picked up some speed & was really interesting. This book is good for anyone who is really into Napolean. I have read other reviews stating that Steve Berry's other books were much better & I'm slightly tempted to read one more.

Another great Cotton Malone book. This one felt a little different but was still a great read and what a heck of a twist.

This book started out r.e.a.l.l.y slow for me. I was listening to the audio version, and the narrator made it almost impossible to tell characters apart during dialog. So I switched to the written version instead, and that helped it move along more. I wish there had been more history and clue finding like in other books by Berry. This book seemed to rely more on character interaction and vendettas and such than adventure. The ending definitely picked up, but I think this is my least favorite of Berry's novels so far.
The story itself seemed disjointed. It starts with a description of Napoleon in Egypt, then switches to someone looking for Rommel's lost gold from WWII. I kept waiting for a connection to be made between the two events, like maybe Rommel had Napoleon's treasure, but it never connects. The Rommel gold was just a way to make a character richer. I think the story would have felt more cohesive if the whole Rommel section was taken out.
Overall it was entertaining, but not the most engrossing adventure/figure-it-out book I've ever read.

Cotton Malone gets better and better with each entry by Berry in this series. Great story, tying current events into the life and times of Napoleon, and it was satisfying seeing an emerging Malone character react the way he did immersed in these elements.

Not my favourite in this series so far, despite the always promising combination of nazi gold and ancient prophesy obsessed wannabe super villains.
Conflicted about the ending because on the one hand, poignant life lesson and on the other feel like a resolution would have been more positive emotion rather than sad emotion.

A fast enjoyable read. The Cotton Malone books are sort of like Dirk Pitt meets National Treasure. Fun, fast-paced, adventure with a nice sprinkling of history.
