As an adult that’s a history nerd & trivia geek, I was very excited to find this. However, it was a disappointment.

It is nothing like BBC History Magazine, The Unbelievable Truth or QI: Quite Interesting. Or even on the level of Big Fat Quiz with Jimmy Carr.

The majority of the question/answers were either eye rolling obvious or about bodily functions & naughty bits. No real insights to be gained. Give this to a middle school & even high school kid and it would be on their level perhaps.

An enjoyable, informative audiobook. I didn’t feel like I had to be super focussed so made a fun, casual read for walking.

Hilarious, thoughtful, and with a broader perspective than most history books. Highly recommend, especially if a whole history book seems daunting. This one feels more like 50 little historical snacks.

A hilarious, brilliant and fascinating look at all the questions we always wanted to ask our history teachers but either felt it was too uncool to or would be rebuffed by an attitude of “I am the teacher I talk you listen” style of teaching.. I really wish Greg was my History teacher (don’t worry all my history teachers you gave me a love of history) it’s just that some of the information that were given to us then have now either been found out to be a colonial or empirical lie and sometimes one that has outlasted and outlived a lot of the actual facts. Honestly there are some questions which are just pure genius and the answers are comedic gold… the zombie apocalypse springs to mind (seriously you have to read this). I also love how you can dip in and out without feeling that you have to finish it now… it means you can read at your leisure.. be entertained and informed.
