I reread this for a work book group, and it was as good second time round. The characters are very well drawn, complex people and I cared about what happened to them. Well written.

Let's start of with the fact that I adore Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's writing so, so much. Her characters have depth and emotion, and she does a phenomenal job of bringing the reader in to their experiences.

But I did not realize I was getting myself into an 18 how audiobook with this one.

But wow, what a story.
A civil war. Romance. Betrayal. Family dynamics. Incredible. I was riveted throughout the entire book.

A poignant narration about fighting and letting go, I was truly moved towards the end.

there is seriously so so so much i could say about this book but i’ll keep it short - this was incredible but god it was a lot. practically every single character did something that i hated at least once, which is maybe what makes it so good. the events that took place made me feel so many different emotions, both good and bad, but i loved it.
