This is one of my favorites in the whole FBAA and FAF combined series. It's very emotional, with enough sweet bits to soften the dark, heavy parts, and the smut is really good because of that emotional aspect. I will warn readers that there is a bodily violation that isn't precisely sexual but still carries that sort of weight, and it really bothered me much more than I would have expected, given that, as I said, it's not actually sexual. Like all the books in this series, it suffers from poor copy editing and info-dumping, but not nearly as much as earlier books.

Second books are almost always filler and set up for the major conflict and overall main storyline of the series and this was no different. But, I ATE THIS UP. The last couple of chapters though.. the plot twist was plot twisting!!!! 4 stars!

A Light in the Flame (Flesh and Fire Book 2)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Daddy Nyktos is not happy,” Ector murmured.

“Needing me or anyone to look out for you doesn’t mean you’re weak, that you can’t defend yourself, or that you’re afraid. We all need someone to watch over us.”

“I never wanted to love. Not until you, liessa.”

...........................................................

As this is an ongoing series, I will not give any spoilers, but please know, if you have't read this series yet... do it! It will not disappoint. I did not want to put this book down. Between, the developments of Nyktos' and Sera's relationship, and figuring out how to beat the clock to remove the embers before it's too late, I was completely engrossed in this story, in this world. As usual, there are some twists, turns, surprises, and revelations that will leave you speechless, and of course, the book ends on a cliffhanger.

However, I can say that I love Nyktos and Sera together!!

Nyktos, A.K.A. Daddy Nyk Nyk, is one of, if not, my top book boyfriend ever. He is... I have no words, just emojis: 🔥🥵😍.

I also, really love Sera. She is so fierce! A true woman warrior. A fighter and so resilient. However, she can be vulnerable and show her emotional side.

The ending of this book dragged, and I liked A Shadow in the Ember more than the sequel. Nytkos has to make Sera his Consort in order to protect her from Kolis and the other Primals. Nyktos and Sera have to work together to destroy Kolis. Sera learns the truth about the ember that is inside her and the fact that she has
Sotoria's soul inside of her
. Fans of romantasy will enjoy this book. There is a lot of angsty scenes between Sera and Nytkos.

Content: violence, sex, mentions of suicide

I am doing the alternate reading with B&A and F&F intertwined. Once again, the banter is chefs kiss🤌  Sera and Nyktos are the power couple I needed. I love every aspect of them! The side characters are amazing and keep me entertained and enthralled. The Primals, minus Veses (lol), are cool to learn more about and get a feel of. The plot, the scheming, the realms, and the romance make it so easy to lose yourself in these books. I'm jumping right into the next and am dying to see what is to come for the couples of both series 👑🩸
