Read after I read the Martian. Good short story that gives you a glimpse into Mark Watney and his mindset before leaving earth.

"I wish there were a way to spend more time on the surface. But oh well 31 sols will have to do."
Poor Watney

Where to find it? Google for it, there are several websites with it as text.

Its pretty short. I really liked The Martian, and Diary of an AssCan is just a handful of paragraphs for the preparations before the events in The Martian. There isn't enough of a story in the 2-minutes it takes to read. Could probably be expanded into its own true book, but I don't think there would be enough to make it good.

5 Stars! Short 4-pager. Getting me ready to read a book I haven’t read before but seen the movie 3+ times. Hopefully it’ll be enjoyable!

A quick 2 page prequel to the Martian. So short, it is not even a chapter. But it was fun. If you liked The Martian, why not read this?

It's a free, three-page short story. Like seeing Watney at a class reunion. Don't expect much, but it'll only take five minutes to read.
