Why do the reviews all take things so seriously! Don't expect anything serious, it's after all just a bunch of blog posts. But they're often funny and tongue-in-cheek, especially Levitt's.

When to Rob a Bank is unfortunately nowhere near the level of quality of Freakonomics or SuperFreakonomics. There are some interesting pieces in this work but most of the ideas are half-baked or not explored at any length or depth. Several of these re-published blog posts concern work that is covered in greater detail in Levitt and Dubner's other books. Skip this addition in the Freakonomics library.

Just a bunch of posts from their blog, nothing special.

I tend not to like reading books that are collections of previous work - it feels lazy, and it also tends to result in unrelated articles/essays, etc., being artificially lumped together. Well, that's exactly what's going on here except the entries are blog entries so they are even briefer and less explanatory.

The two guys write well and raise interesting points, hence the two stars instead of even lower, but when I actually got to an entry I personally have asked MANY times - Why do animated movies use famous actors for voice-overs? -- they suggested four possible answers, then said something like, "I suspect none of these are the right answer." That's frustrating.

Not really recommended, but harmless reading for sure.
