A great book of writing exercises for those wanting to write their memoirs or personal essays.

However, if you’re looking for more practical tips on memoir writing and structure, this book does not offer any help. It’s mostly a poet’s meditation on the form rather than a how to book.

I found some of Goldberg's other books more inspiring, but this one has lots of writing topics that I'm looking forward to writing about/using in workshops, etc.

A nonfiction writing book that’s fast-to-medium-paced and inspiring. Similar to Writing Down the Bones, Goldberg walks the reader through tools to help unlock memory and make for a better memoirist. An excellent gift for the creative nonfiction writer in your life.

While not much different from all the other writing books out there, it is filled with beautiful prose. I've always enjoyed Natalie's works. And this one even got me to write!
