A very dense book, though still very readable, by Bert Holldobler and E.O. Wilson. I was left with a deep and profound amazement about the life of ants and social insects, and a realization of just how much more there is to learn about these creatures, and the very nature of organisms, evolution, and natural selection. The writing is a little dry, but you can still feel E.O. Wilson and Bert Holldobler's excitement and passion for one of the most complex biological systems in the world, the superorganism.
