Just an unbelievably charming, likeable heist story, and it looks stupendous.

A fun graphic novel from a fellow Louisville resident. I'd be interested in reading more adventures about Plus Man and Hank.

This book is so delightful! It's about sweet, morally grey boys (plus robot friend Hank) living in an advanced world where corruption - especially police corruption - is so obvious and accepted that people sort of casually help them with various things. There's lots of dry humor, but you also get the sense that these kids have a charm that just pushes (non-corrupt) people to like them and want to help them. Sears is careful in how he crafts his characters; it's clearly no mistake that the cops aware of and unhappy with corruption are all black, while the corrupt authorities are all white. I really appreciated the lack of subtlety in that commentary, although you can tell Sears' emphasis is often on the humor. Additionally, the action scenes are all great! They're easy to follow, involve random fun gadgetry, and are full of the kind of bravado young boys would of course engage in. Oh last thing, Sears also uses all the landscapes - mostly cityscapes, sometimes desert, but also the designs of the interiors of buildings like weird factories and arcades - to do most of the world-building. It's brilliant.
