How amazing, interesting and varied are the costume designs from "country" to "country"? I love how the gang make great friends with the people they meet in different worlds. They even leave the place better than how they found it.
Syaoran is boss, jumping to protect Sakura and taking a knife cut in the shoulder. A true Hero! I was dying when Sakura was cluing in that Syaoran was important to him based on his devotion to her, the she immediately forgot. It's so sad, but amazing that Syaoran is no less committed to helping Sakura in retrieving her memories. Why can't they just be together and happy?

I liked the concept of this world. Reinterpreting a legend? The pied piper vibe? I thought it was super cool. I feel like the team needs to do a bit more team building, because right now they're not really super bonded, but I feel like that will come with time.

Definitely enjoying this series more as it goes along. I really liked the reversals in the first half of this volume. Lots of interesting twists - a really great storyline. The second half in the Country of Oto is odd and I'm curious to see how it develops. I also like the division of a story between two volumes with the set up occurring in one, the denouement and the move to another country in the second. I feel, strangely, that it flows better rather than having the whole story in a volume. Of course, it keeps you reading as well!

It's time to find out where the village children have disappeared to! Sakura is trapped in the ruins of a castle with the sleep-walking children. The rest of the gang has no idea where she is. How will they fix this situation? And what will the next world they end up in be like?
I'm liking Sakura more and more by the book. She's got a clear hindrance with her many lacking memories, but she's doing her best and while not always making the best decisions she's far from helpless.I'm also glad we've gotten a clear demonstration why telling her who Syaoran is won't help. All in all, I'm very picking about the m/f romantic relationships I get into (mostly because the majority of such romances rely on tired stereotypes and boring shortcuts) but I'm enjoying this one. Syaoran being blind in one eye was also nicely foreshadowed without it being obvious. Kudos for that!
As for my favorite characters, Fai is easily the winner there. I am a sucker for characters who play the fool and smile all the time, while clearly being more then they seem. I can't wait for his relationship with the others, especially Kurogane, develop beyond the teasing and silly pretending!
Also, we finally get a better look at how "not!Team Rocket" is attempting to interfere with the gang. It's nice to get a hint at the bigger things going on in the background. What is Sakura's magical power, exactly? What will happen when she regains all her memories? When will the gang have to face off against Mr I Want To Rule The World? Intriguing! Getting in line for volume 6 at the library a-sap!

It was nice to see more of Syaoran's past.
Also, the moment with Sakura almost remembering him answered questions for me, which I appreciated.

Volume 5 of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle by CLAMP is where the plot takes a left turn. The ghost princess of Spirit Town warns Sakura that someone is watching. Turns out many someones are watching and they all have a stake in the outcome of their search for Sakura's memories.
Meanwhile Sakura et al go to the Oto Country. Here's a point where the anime is actually sillier than the manga. The anime plays up the pseudonyms Fai picks for everyone: Big Dog, Little Dog, Big Cat, Little Cat and gets a lot of gags out of them.
Fans of other CLAMP series will notice a few familiar faces. These are other residents or visitors to Oto. Some are Oni (demon) fighters who fight alongside Syaoran and Kurogane.
For those who are also following xxxHolic, points of similarity between Syaoran and Watanuki are revealed.
