Jill Dolan explores our fraught relationship with representation, and does so successfully. The book was written in the 1980s so certainly things have changed since then, but overall, Dolan provides a stunning critique to feminist performance and criticism. Highly recommend if you’re a dramaturgical nerd, who’s curious to learn more about female spectatorship and scholarship.
