rose has down syndrome so that affects a lot of the interactions she has with people. she has a fierce desire to be independent and for the most part she manages quite excellently. there were several moments where she terrified me though and i thought, “girl no! you need some help!”

Maybe my expectations for this book were too high, but I was quite disappointed by how boring it turned out to be. It had so much potential. Almost 3 stars because I did like the characters, but the story itself waw rather meh.

I really looked forward to reading this but I think it just tried to be too much? Not gritty enough to be gritty realism, not light and fluffy enough to be... Light fluff?
Too much going on, bit of a split personality. Enjoyable enough, though

This book isn't bad per se but I couldn't get into the story. I feel like the beginning was quite repetitive, Rose wanted to do something, something came in the way, someone helped Rose, and so on over and over again. I was quite bored of this even though the characters were nice and pleasing. I'll maybe try it again later but for now I'm dnf'ing.

Rosie Loves Jack is a book that will warm your soul & shatter your heart within the same page; it will both restore & break your faith in humanity & it will keep you hooked from start to finish. The disability rep in this story cannot be faulted & I’m incredibly pleased that I took the time to learn Rosie’s story.

⚠️ This book contains ableist behaviour/language, taking advantage of young girls, discussions of rape/pimping out teenagers & other scenes of a sensitive nature ⚠️

Wow, what an unexpectedly beautiful book about how everyone has a place in this world. By the end I had tears dripping off my face and just really wanted the good to triumph. A good reminder to be kind, and that kindness can be found in the most unlikely of places (Paddington Station, under a bridge etc).
