Decent art for comic, but do wish that the cover artist did the actual comic illustrations lol.

Story was not outstanding and pacing jumped all over the place. Too many introduced characters and not enough time to linger on them and make them likable. I didnt like Olivia and I hated Calix and very much dislike their dynamic and the fact that of course they had to sleep with each other ugh. (Seriously tho Olivia if your hot shit and you know better dont get pulled into dumb competitions??).

Not much forethought is put into these stories and it really shows.

Lol its getting to the point of sunk cost right now. Story is very much trying to corral random people together. Love the cover art, but oh my god hated what theyve done to Fenris in the actual comic body, what did they do to my poor boy?? Still hate Calix. Francesca deserves better, and I totally ship her with Vaea. Pacing is still whack, and a lot of unnecessary time jumping. These comics are just too short to properly build up character and Ive been too spoiled by Sandman and Monstess.

It's good to see Fenris again, even though I felt like I crashed the party where I know no one. Then a friend told me that I started reading comics in the wrong order, hahah.

By the way, I'm not a fan of the idea that Fenris feels "used" in the Kirkwall events by Hawke and the rest of the team. There is a chance to built strong positive relationships between characters in Dragon Age 2, even if you go for rivalry between Hawke and Fenris, so this "people only use you for your power" stuff coming from Fen's mouth is a bit off. But hey, I also heard that canon Hawke is diplomatic (boring) one instead of beloved "purple" one, so everything is possible.

If these characters are not on my team when DA4 comes out I will be miffed.

Character 3.5 |Setting 5 |Plot 2|Art 2|Enjoyability 2

Overall rating: 2.9

I have a lot of issues with graphic novel.

The first is the art is kind of not my jam and they give Fenris a lot of dumb faces. Also, Fenris gets white washed? He's so light in the novel when he should be a lot darker than he is. Yikes my dude.

Going on to the story, it was interesting that they tied in old characters from previous volumed of their graphic novels which is what saved this rating to be a 3 instead of a 2 because most of those characters i loved. I didn't really love the Tevinter mage lady because even if she was yearning for daddy's attention she kept saying it's everyone else's fault. Reeked of the insane privilege she had.

I felt like the novel also took some of the development Fenris got in the DA2 and threw it out the window and just made Fenris ROAR ANGRY MAN. Which isn't his entire character. As someone who loves his character to bits I felt they did him a disservice. I did like his interactions with Autumn thought. WHO'S A GOOD GIRL?!?!

Overall if this wasn't dragon age I would probably hate it, but I love dragon age so It's still gonna be in my library.

I read Deception, Blue Wraith, and Dark Fortress back to back and didn’t enjoy this story as much as the rest. I didn’t particularly like Olivia or Calix as main characters so this story did not hold my interest until the very end. IYKYK.

The illustrations were a bit cartoonish at times, the story felt slow and confusing, and the dialogue lacked in this one compared to the other two.

In order to understand Blue Wraith and Dark Fortress you should probably still read this one, but it’s the least enjoyable of the three.
