I loved it!
What a fascinating story. I saw the movie (twice), then decided I should read the book. I was not disappointed.

Wonderful! Just the inspiration I needed to actually start planning for the AZT.
She is a very honest writer which I appreciate, but Bernadette Dunne was a terrible choice for the audiobook narrator. Her tone and approach did not match the content of the story at all and was distracting and sometimes off-putting. I had to keep reminding myself to just pay attention to the story itself so I could enjoy it.

This was a rare case in which I saw the movie before I read the book. Both were phenomenal. Reese Witherspoon did an incredible job bringing Cheryl Strayed's story to 3D. Both the book and the movie are profound, funny, heartache-inducing, and inspirational. Hiking that much of the PCT is not in my wheelhouse, but Cheryl has definitely rekindled my love of being in the silence and sounds of nature, and I can't wait to get back to it.

I really appreciated the author's honesty. Even though she made me mad at her for never learning.

An embarrassingly ridiculous and incorrigible woman hikes the Pacific Crest Trail and evidently learns nothing from the experience... However, the few scenes detailing the actual trail and wilderness inspired me to put thru-hiking on my bucket list, hence the second star in my rating.

Great novel about how it’s the journey, not the destination, that matters. It’s made me want add hiking the Pacific Crest Trail or Appalachian Trail to my bucket list.

I listened to this novel on audiobook and did like the narrator. I was VERY excited to read "Wild" as it was on my TBR list for quite some time. After reading Strayed's "Dear Sugar" book, the title of which escapes me I knew that I clicked with her writing style. Sadly, "Wild" was not my favorite. I did think that the writing was solid. I felt like I was slogging through points of the book. There were tons of characters to keep track of, which was hard on audiobook especially since some of the people Strayed met did not stick around or reappeared 13 hours into the book. The imagery employed by Strayed was phenomenal. I will say, this book definitely got my siked for my Alaska trip and really makes its readers want to go on an adventure.
