Armstrong is a master of weaving solid facts about the medieval time period into an entertaining lecture series. Filled with interesting bits and connections, this series is a fantastic introduction to or refresher about a time period that was anything but "dark."

The author was a little hard to listen to, she was not as excited in the material to to inspire enthusiasm in the subject and she spoke too slowly so I had to speed it up to 1.5x

As for the material, it is a good general overview. Maybe it is my fault because I’ve studied the Medieval period before but I felt I already knew a lot of what she said and that it was just a basic overview. But the reason for the four stars is because it got a little boring in parts and she repeated herself often.

Engaging - has a good balance between macro events like wars, coronations, so on, and micro events like daily life, medieval cooking, etc.

I really like this professor, and this is a good starting point for a big, complex subject.

This is a very encompassing history of medieval Europe. Think of it as a survey course. Armstrong presents a new theme each "class" so you can deicide what you like best and then find more information on it. There are some wonderful lesser known Medieval history stories here which makes it worth a lesson. Prof. Armstrong clearly loves her topic.
