The first collection of short stories in the Bond saga, offering the reader an insight into five select adventures in the career of the world's most famous racist super-spy. All are enjoyable, but 'Quantum of Solace' and 'The Hildebrand Rarity' are easily the stand-outs, providing a rare insight into the man behind the misogyny.

Meh. Bond's exploits do not lend themselves very well to the short story format and this collection failed to make much of an impression on me. The tales are spare, inconsequential and add little to the series as a whole.

I had never read Ian Fleming before and this book of short stories may not have been the best introduction. The writing is very visual, and you can easily see why these translate onto the big screen so well. However, the short stories were unfulfilling.
