This is, without question, the worst book I have ever read.

The dialogue was laughably cringy, there were probably 15 completely different plots, tons of unresolved storylines, and a plethora of pointless side characters with unnecessarily elaborate backstories.

If I wasn’t reading this for my book club, this would’ve been a DNF for me.

Honestly, who wants a romance with a side of
amnesia, 2 tragic car accident storylines, the love interest being orphaned, and characters that mostly only have sex when they’re heartbroken

This was literally just such a bizarre and horrible read. I don’t understand how it has so many positive reviews.

This is the true definition of an emotional roller coaster. I went from almost DNFing (sometimes reading the 18ish age range is tough for me, and you’re introduced to A LOT of characters and places very quickly) to literally finishing in one sitting. Noah Riley officially tops the list of book boyfriends, I don’t see him ever being dethroned. Ari is written so beautifully, I absolutely loved her development and emotions, and how she processed everything. I’m not usually one for contemporary sports romances but I found this to be a truly beautiful book that I think anyone who finds themself in a space needing to heal process will truly love. Some really wonderful side characters that I’d love to revisit in the future if they have their own books. Spoilers ahead, but if you want to know why this isn’t a perfect five stars:
I think Chase might just be the most awful character I’ve read in recent memory, and for some reason I could NOT get over his friends not calling him on his absolute disgusting behavior. He was predatory and disturbing throughout, but especially towards the end of the book. And I felt it was disguised with the frequent “but he really is a good guy I swear!” excuse, even though he has not a single redeeming moment or quality. This took me out of the plot flow at times but was resolved in a way that made sense and was true to the story.

This book at several points had me literally saying “what in the Wattpad?”
At one point she gets nervous and mentions that it’s just like the time she got pulled on stage at a one direction concert and puked on zayns shoes. Literally. That’s almost a direct quote
At another point
after a huge blow out fight she goes to tell her love that she loves him and literally gets hit by a car only to wake up with no memory.

This book was good, I liked the characters mostly. I loved Noah, I loved her brother and I loved Brady.
The writing had its moments of cringe dialogue, the twins call each other brother and sister constantly which felt weird. I’ve called my sister versions of sister but never just fully “sister”
I would have given this a higher rating but the the last third of the book is a hot mess express. The writing is fine and the story would have been fine if it was almost the whole plot, but being this final third, i just wanted it to be over.
after finally choosing which boy she wanted (which should not have even been a conversation bc Chase was a walking red flag.) there is a huge fight between Ari (main girl) chase (childhood crush) and her twin brother. All screaming and yelling, the boys get in a physical fight. WHICH WAS FINE I LOVED. but then Noah shows up and just as she’s about to tell him she loves him she gets hit by a car.
She’s put in a medically induced coma and wakes up like 5 days later
WITH NO MEMORY OF THE LAST THREE MONTHS.
On top of that the dr is like “we couldn’t save the baby”
So chase swoops in and is like trying to get her to fall in love with him Noah is taking a step back so she can figure  things for herself
AND THIS HIS MOM DIES
Like 4 major traumas happen in less than a hundred pages, and like three weeks book time.
It was too much.
It was way too much.

Also on record. Chase was a creep. He couldn’t take no for an answer and got physically aggressive towards her.

Just WOW!
I really get the hype this book is having!
Chase is a knob! Noah is just perfect!
And I really really did not expect that twist, which made this book sooooo good 🥰

this book had me in a CHOKEHOLD oml [btw no spoilers, triggers at the bottom]

i started this book and was honestly confused for the first 100 pages bc the story was moving so quickly, but the love interest was bLaNd and i didn't feel any chemistry anywhere. but then it progressed and i understood how Brandy was writing, and things began to make more sense lol. so def give it time before you give up! but alsooo, the style of introducing the story was very original and creative, and i ADORED all of the characters, esp. Noah (ofc what a KING) but also brady lmao and ari and even mason grew on me.

as far as plot, this book was pretty chill and nuetral and just happy vibes for the first 2/3 except for minor plot bumps, which i was good with because it was SO enjoyable to read, but bc of all the amazing reviews i'd seen i knew something was going to happen. and it did. bc let me tell you this author took the story, threw it on its head, and then killed its puppy all within 30 pages. AND I WAS DONE FOR. [reference spoilers at the end.] ntm the writing in this book isn't necessarily lyrical or phenomenal, but it hit SO HARD and the emotional damage in my heart right now is not going to be repaired prob ever.

overall, it's def long and manny could say it's drawn out, but the story is truly very fast paced, supper witty, super emotional, and kept me hooked through all 700 pages of college fun and dRaMa. PLEASE read this, esp. if you're in college or going into it, bc my standards for men just doubled from their already exponential level, and now i need a Mr. Riley to come and cook pot pies for me 😙.

🪐SPOILERS🪐
I'M JUST GOING TO WRITE THIS IN ALL CAPS BC IF YOU WERE IN MY HOUSE ON NEW YEARS EVE YOU'D KNOW HOW WRECKED I WAS IN THE LAST 150 PAGES OF THIS BOOK-SO MUCH SO THAT I MISSED HALF OUR FESTIVITIES LMAO. MY HEART BROKEE FOR NOAH BC IK ARI WAS GOING THROUGH SO MUCH WITH CHASE'S MANIPULATION AND HER FIGHT W NOAH AND OFC THE BABY BUT AFTER THE ACCIDENT NOAH GOT ALL THAT, PLUS THE FORGOTTEN MEMORIES, PLUS CHASE BEING A DICK TRYING TO MANIPULATE HER INTO GETTING BACK WITH HIM, AND THEN HIS MOM PASSED?!?! LIKE I KNEW SHE WAS GOING TO BUT WHY DID BRANDY HAVE TO DO HIM SO DIRTY?!?!? mkay the all caps is getting annoying but truly i was HURTNG for these characters because i literally would not have been able to have the strength either of them had (or their families minus Chase the cock block) to get through what they did. i felt it in my bones that this story was going to have the plot twist of the century, and now that i know i'm just trying to process tbh haha. but everything was perfection in this, can't have asked for anything more (except for maybe a condom Noah that's your one flaw bc it annoys me SO much when authors forgo those) but yeah overall, 5/5, 10/10 and now my standards for the year are through the roof bc i started 2023 with a 5 star. fantabulous.
