I went back and forth in trying to describe this book. It's an emotional roller-coaster. A book that causes severe emotional whiplash. I often would be laughing out loud and then quiet and empathetic or on the verge of tears. This shed so much light on a man that had the ability to make others laugh and seemed/was so relatable. He was a kind, honest soul who got lost.

I picked up this book after getting a signed copy from Chris Farley's brother Tom. Never a fan of Farley and his work, I was more interested in how the story was told. Numerous interviews with people that knew the man over his short life (33 years and same as his idol Belushi). I have to admit that I was blown away. Farley was a complex creature; so giving of his time, money and empathy and so completely fucked up. ADDICTION at it's most extreme. I laughed, I cried, I cursed and I reflected while sitting down for 8 solid hours and finished this book. Ironically, the book turned out to be extremely addictive.

If you want to dive into the person Chris Farley really was, this book is great! His loving family and friends paint a beautiful picture of who Chris was and make you feel the weight of his struggles. Often people forget that celebrities are people too and have their own demons. This book sheds light on many points in Chris’s career. Highly recommend.

Not nearly as entertaining as the man himself. I am usually a fan of this style of biography as well, told from the people who were there. I mean the LIVE FROM NY book is one of my all time favorite nonfictions. Interesting to note that this cover was chosen as one of AIGA's 50 best of the year.

Really good bio, quick, easy. I liked the storytelling format and thought as an audience we finally got to learn more about Chris than "he was funny" or "he was a drug addict". It was funny, sad, poignant, sweet, encompassing. While his death was longer ago than I realized his name (and talent) is still so recognized and enjoyed by many. I'd definitely recommend this bio to anyone.
