I originally published a glowing review of this book I wrote back in 2007, but I'm deleting it. Sadly, the author has ruined her work for me by being everything I thought her books were against. Flaws in the series are more obvious in hindsight, and while there is much about that world I still love, I can no longer sing its praises.

6/10- Honestly, I expected more. This is one of the most popular book series in the world, and I felt the relationships between characters were underdeveloped. I loved the battle of Hogwarts, but felt the other chapters were way too long and pointless. Harry just moved on from death to death and I didn’t like how unaffected he was.

:' ) and also <3

I started rereading HP in October (& reading other books in-between) and now it's over and I am sad.

"Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure."

It was great fun revisiting this series via audiobook. I am amazed at how many details I had forgotten!

*library book* what a bittersweet end. The book cleared up SO many gaps that were missed in the movie. While I still think that Snape was a bully and low key horrible, the book helped me understand him a lot better. I don’t get how everyone just lets go of all of his past behaviors just because he loved Lily. Like I get that love kept him loyal but he was still a full ass bully to a child who didn’t deserve that? Overall I loved this book. Im going to rewatch the movies (that we own obvi) and am excited to use what I know from the books to fill in the missing plot points :)

Also justice for Creature. Movie Creature was robbed.

“Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.” This was a brilliant ending. I felt like the pacing was sufficient and I was engaged the entire time. I’m also pretty sure I cried a bit but let’s not mention that. Hedwig will forever be in my heart. *I do not support J.K. Rowling. Kudos to my local library for providing me with this series.

I love this book and series so much. It has a very special place in my heart. It also has the ability to rip my heart to shreds every time I re read it. I know there’s some controversy with the author. But Harry Potter has been a big part of my life for two decades and I just can’t let it go. It taught me much about love and friendship. That’s not to say it doesn’t have its flaws. I know it does. I’m just not gonna let that take away from something that means so much to me.
