As a first time ever reader of Jane Eyre, I will say that I am glad I read it. It was well written and propulsive, great on audio, loved Jane as a character. There were definitely some things that made me go ehhhhmmmm about Mr. Rochester as a grown woman. Red flags for sure. Still a solid classic and I’m glad I finally got to it!

I'm DNFing this. I went into this with an open mind after finishing Pride and Prejudice and loving it, and thinking I'd try a different sort of "classic". I'm 3 hours into the audiobook with 18+ hours left and I'm just... not into it. I feel like I'm still waiting for the story to begin and she just got to the boarding school.
