A solid anthology of six unrelated stories of Wolverine being a hero and avenging crimes that aren't related to him or any supervillains. It's just Wolverine vs. a gang in a corrupt town, Wolverine vs a corrupt sheriff, two stories of Wolverine back in Japan dealing with his past (my least favorite stories in the book, but still decent and with gorgeous art), Wolverine vs an unkillable monster, and Wolverine vs an organ farming mobster.

All of the stories are fairly brief and bereft of melodrama. Apart from the interlude in Japan, they all read like violent noir/crime books instead of superhero comics. The character beats are solid. There aren't as many cliches as you usually find in Wolverine comics, and every artist in this book is in top form. And they are six very different styles of pencils and colors.

I recommend this to any Wolverine fan, readers looking for continuity-free stories about Wolverine being a badass, and fans of uncommon comic art.
