Thronos and Lanthe sitting in a tree... K-i-s-s-i-n-g.

Childhood friends to mortal enemies to lovers. What an absolute blast of a time. Kresley never fails to deliver a pair of head strong badasses and top notch spice.

DARK SKYE is yet another powerful, emotionally wrenching, funny, fulfilling story from Kresley Cole.

Thronos, a Vrekener prince, and Lanthe, a Sorceri, were briefly childhood friends even though their races are enemies. Thronos recognized Lanthe as his mate, even at their young age. Their friendship ended badly, with Thronos permanently scarred and in pain.

For 500 years Thronos has been searching for Lanthe. He finally catches up to her in The Order prison as she is running for her life. Soon she is his captive, and they are one the run together.

Dark Skye is the story of their journey, a journey of discovery. I don't want to say too much as it will ruin the story. But they both learn something about themselves. Thronos, especially, has some difficult truths to face. But his epiphany about Lanthe is both touching and wonderfully profane. Lanthe has to learn to trust and let go, among other things. The end of their journey is beautiful and fulfilling.

Dark Skye dovetails with other books in the series, including LOTHAIRE and SHADOW'S CLAIM. There are many references to KISS OF A DEMON KING. Your memory will be tested!

Don't miss DARK SKYE!

Okay so the book with Nèomi and Conrad was my favorite so far but this one is definitely my second favorite of the series.

I wasn't expecting to like Melanthe much but I think by the end I liked her more than her sister Sabine. Particularly because Sabine had been molded by the harsh life both of the sisters were forced to live as they were always on the run for their lives and specifically Sabines death experiences had a big impact on her. Sabine was much more cold and calculated compared to Melanthe who somehow still remained softer as a romantic at heart and less hardened by life because Sabine protected her and in some ways didn't allow for her to flourish and spread her own proverbial wings. In this book that's exactly what Melanthe is forced to do. I loved her inner strength and how she knew her own self worth. She knew what she wanted out of life and was willing to fight for it.

I adored the history between Melanthe and Thronos. It was incredibly sweet how they grew to love one another as children before all the tragedy and pain that came after.

I really loved Thronos. I loved how much he evolved especially throughout the book. Using logic and reason but letting himself be guided by his heart and desires. Specifically the way he was raised and brought up to believe so many things was sad to me. It felt like one of those documentaries on some religious cult who preached about how emotions, love, laughter, and sexual pleasures were against nature. Seen as a weakness by showing your lack of control of these emotions. Women wore full cover up. Everything was uniform and colorless. I felt for him. I did. It was definitely a culture shock for sure. But I love how he adapted by the trials and experiences both he and Melanthe had to go through together in this book.

Melanthe and Thronos went through literal hell to get their happily ever after and I'm so happy they did. I also didn't see that bit in the final chapters with Morgana coming and hated that for Melanthe and Thronos. I teared up just reading it.

Overall great book. The whole series is good, no doubt, but this is my second standout fave by far.

As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

I wasn't as invested in this one. I like Lanthe and her sister, but that's about it.

This was super long and it became uninteresting causes me to skip some pages to get through it all. I understand what Cole was trying to do but I just ended up feeling restless and even considered not finishing it. There were a few things I wasn’t too fond of which were her “cultural references” like “ho fo sho” and “ twerk my way out of this one” it just didn’t feel necessary and felt like she was trying to hard to be relatable.
