This is a lovely novella! It's the first work I've read by Alyssa Cole and I'll definitely be reading the rest of the books in the Reluctant Royals series.

I really liked the format of this book, in which the book switches from the previous spring, when the two characters met, and the current winter, when the characters meet again. One character (Likotsi) POVs the current time chapters, and the other character (Fabiola) POVs the past chapters. I really liked this format! I really enjoy stories with switching POVs, and thought it was a great way to switch up the format.

I listened to this in audiobook format, and the narrator did a fantastic job.

I loved this little slice of a book so much, I'm almost mad it had to end so soon.

Alyssa Cole returns, and takes a slight detour from her usual escapist narratives to weave in some dour reality to this work, but still manages to keep things light and happy. I didn't feel like this book was a soap box, by any means, and I loved how fleshed out Fab was, even for such a short story. Likotsi and Fabiola's styles are gorgeous, and their love tender.

I was a little disappointed that there was only one real steamy scene, but given how much buildup Cole usually puts in to her other works, it was understandable.

For a perfect escapist read that worships NYC and its minuscule wonders, as well as love in all its forms, read this book.

I appreciated the representation. I also liked how dating apps and casual dating came into play. But like I said before, romance is probably not my genre even though I can appreciate it.

This is such a cute couple!! The way the story is told is interesting. It takes place in the modern setting through Likotsi's point of view with alternating chapters in Fabiola's point of view in the past when they were together during book 1. It really worked for me.
