A fascinating view into a complicated man. Really interesting to learn about his life before joining the Nation of Islam, and how it affected his later trajectory. Some challenging and troubling opinions, which changed in interesting ways after his break with Elijah Muhammad and the hajj. Wow, still processing this and will for a long time

Read a few years ago for a university course, but found it fascinating biography and real dive into the issues the Malcolm X believed in.

A classic redemption memoir, skillfully told and unafraid to tell the parts of his life he’s not proud of. Just a really great book.

I’m a huge fan of Spike Lee’s film but I’d never read the book. I’m so glad I did because it gets so much deeper into his story and mentality in different situations. I had a hard time with how he talked about women, and particularly how he acted like he was an authority on the ways of women, but I can’t exactly dock points for that because if it wasn’t in the book it would be less true to who he was. His story is incredible.
