I really liked this book, I enjoyed reading it and I loved the characters, I related to Marvin a little too much sometimes.Ā
The only problem I had with this book was how often Marvin brought up Olans identity. Trying to get him into a box, felt weird. There are so many other identifiers that him just constantly trying to get him to identify as bi felt like he was trying to push him into a box.Ā

This is such a beautiful story of love and metamorphosis...of finding love and realizing you're worthy and deserving of it.

Do you ever struggle to read a book...because you relate so much to a main character's mental health struggles that it hits a little to close? That's what this book was for me...Marvin's unresolved trauma from childhood still affecting his life.

Of course I don't relate to everything Marvin goes through but having that mirror put in front of me about anxiety and unresolved childhood PTSD...*deep breathe* that was rough. I think a lot of us who have unresolved trauma think we're okay...I mean we're adults now right? If we're lucky we have great lives so we have no reason to let that trauma still resonate and affect us, right? šŸ˜… Luckily I have an amazing husband who has me talk out any anxieties/worries I have and understands when I need time to just process things myself.

I am so happy that I was able to experience this love story and, as hard as it was, do a little self reflection on why therapy really is something to look into.

This was an amazing first read from MA Wardell and I can't wait to see what other wonderful stories they have to bring us. šŸ’œĀ

if you go into this expecting some smut, then you will be happy bc this had more than i was anticipating. i think the plot needed just a little something more. there were topics i feel were talked about briefly and not fully developed/resolved. i WISH marvin would have been in or considered therapy sooner - esp (!!) because of his anxiety [his character felt like he would be someone very open and accepting of being in therapy.] also the lack of dual pov made it feel like olan was such a flat character - it felt as if he all of sudden liked marvin and the biggest parts of his personality was that heā€™d never been with a guy before and he was smartā€¦. like i need more from a LI yā€™all.

āš ļø: alcoholism, addiction, panic attacks/disorders, parental abandonment, blood, infidelity, injury/injury detail, miscarriage (side character), pregnancy (side character)

A gorgeous MM perspective about blending families, challenges and the kindergarten teacher perspective was glorious. Sexy, funny and charming, this is a winner!
