Ironic that the author insists on getting a good editor, because he didn't have one himself, apparently. Half the book he is ranting about marked up printing costs, and some other bad practices of his competitors. It got very annoying after a while. Still, some useful suggestions. And nice research.

An insightful book on some of the ins and outs of self-publishing. Great for new and aspiring indie authors in need of a little help along the way.

This is an incredible collection of information and advice on self publishing and the publishing process in general. Mark Levine has compiled detailed insights and resource links for us, but it doesn't feel like you're reading a textbook. The friendly and no-nonsense approach makes you feel like you're being told the know how by a friend in the business. It's geared towards US writers, but there's still plenty of overlap to the UK industry - having studied the UK publishing industry I recognised a lot of the terminology and content. The appendixes are an added, comprehensive bonus. Truly, writers are getting value for money with this book!

I thought I had written a review of this, but must have completely slipped my mind! I have gone back to certain chapters over the years as a refresher and overall, there is so much useful information that is packed in this book! Really lays out all the pros and cons of the various methods of publishing.
