I adore this series! Maddox is a hard-working man doing all he can to take care of his niece, injured brother, and struggling family farm. Haley left behind the shy awkward girl she used to be and didn't look back but Redbud is the only place that ever felt like home. Watching these two get to know each other all over again is just as entertaining the second time around.

(I read this as part of the Cowboy Kisses novella collection by Lacy Williams)

It’s a very nice short story. I didn’t realize it wasn’t a full length book. I also didn’t appreciate the leaps forward in time. There really wasn’t a nice transition between the time frames. However I’m a sap for happily ever afters so that’s why I gave it four stars.

Clean, sweet romance book. The book was really cute, but it felt really short. I would like to have read more about the characters past.

Kissed by a Cowboy is an interesting way to spend a couple hours. It's definitely a novella—the audiobook runs less than three hours. And that length is what hurts it, really. The story just lacks depth that I think would have been there had the story been longer. The romance in particular felt rushed to me, and I didn't care about it as much as I'd have liked.

I did appreciate the unique details—Olivia and Haley bond over a shared love of cooking, and Olivia starts up an ice cream business. I had a few questions about how easily things fell into place regarding the business, but it was still a fun idea.

Kissed by a Cowboy really reminds me of many of the films Hallmark puts out—light, fluffy, and fun, but lacking substance. Sometimes, that's exactly what you want (I mean, I watch more than my fair share of Hallmark movies!), and it really was the perfect accompaniment to mowing. 3-1/2 stars.

Note about the audiobook: It's narrated by Emily Eldridge, and she didn't really stand out to me. I mean that in a good way—she was reading the story to me, not over-acting. It was about the story, not her performance.

Disclosure of material connection: I received a free copy of the audiobook. I was not required to leave a positive review, and the opinions expressed are my own.

"Kissed by a Cowboy" is the story of Maddox and Haley, who, having known each other as teenagers through Maddox's sister Katey, reconnect after the latter returns to town to visit a sick and dying aunt. Both liked each other when they were younger, but never got together, and now, as adults, they don't know how to pick up what they never began. How will things work out, now specially as they have such different lives?

I felt this book deserved four stars for its sheer likeability; the characters are nice, relatively well developed for what it is, and the plot is decent enough. Is it the best thing I ever read? No. But I liked that it didn't aim to be more than the story it was, with no deep dark secrets or intentions of that sort. All that was meant to be said was clearly written, and there was, thank god, no purple prose or "Poetic" icky-sweet descriptions. A fun read, light, but not necessarily fluffy. I didn't feel like I had cotton between my ears reading this, because I can happily state the characters, Maddox and Haley especially, weren't shallow and vain cardboard cut-outs.

However, I might as well admit, at the same time, that the plot was largely predictable, and the cuteness side story of dead Katey's little daughter having an ice-cream business, though not a complete eye-sore, did stretch believability to its thinnest. But I enjoyed this, and there weren't any faults that detracted from lhe pleasure of my enjoyment - a light read that knows what it is.
