While I felt the storyline was predictable, it still addressed many topics and lessons to be learned. Then book details the beginning of Phoebe and Jake’s relationship all the way through to the demise of their world as they know it. This story was a great reminder that while it’s hard to break from toxic things and people, it’s necessary to find your own strength and rely on yourself. The Widow of Wall Street was very entertaining, thought provoking, and well written. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the book more than I expected to. When you start, you already know the outcome and it starts with cliches. Regardless, I'm glad I stuck with it. The characters are well developed and interested. I listened on Audible - great narrator.

This book is basically the Bernie Madoff story, right down to the snub from the hairdresser. If you’ve seen HBO’s Wizard of Lies you don’t need to read this book. If you haven’t seen it, read it.

A solid three stars although I thought I’d rate this higher going in with the excitement I did. It was a good story with a strong beginning and ending but I felt the middle part of the book went on for much longer than it needed to be.
Couldn’t stand Jake and Meyers did a great job of provoking so many feelings of hatred towards him. At times, I felt for Pheobe and others times I wanted to shake her!
Overall, it was a good read but not one I’d rush to recommend or read again.

The mastermind goes to jail but what happens to the people that are left behind? The Widow of Wall Street gives us a fictionalized look at a family similar to the Madoff’s. Do not pick up this book expecting surprises. We know what happens. It’s the story behind it that the author is sharing with us.
Phoebe was loyal to a fault. I found myself going back and forth on whether or not I empathized with her character. She was driven from a young age and went after what she wanted, so why didn’t she walk away? Did Phoebe know about Jakes scheming? Would you know? Would you walk away? Even the investors that saw the numbers going up when everyone else’s were going down. Did they really think they were just the lucky ones? Sometimes people turn a blind eye when it benefits them.
I think the author does a great job portraying a family torn apart by a greedy man’s actions. Jake was such a despicable man and I absolutely detested him. Randy Susan Meyers is a fabulous storyteller so pick up this complex story in paperback on June 26th.

It was a compelling story that drug on too long. I wanted to finish it so I kept reading but I wish it was almost half as long as it was.
